KonMari Your Kit

We’ve all heard of Marie Kondo and her best selling book, The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up. Some of us have even put her method to work and experienced that super power ourselves (can I get an Amen!). So, as we move into spring and clear the cobwebs of winter away, now is the perfect time to KonMari your kit.

Using the KonMari Method on your Kit:

1. Tidy up all at once. That means empty your kit out completely and put everything into a pile to sort through.

2. Visualize what you want to see and feel when your kit is organized and from that place move into step three.

3. Hold each item in your hand and ask yourself, “Does this bring me joy?” Alternatively, we suggest asking, “Do I use this?” If the answer is Yes place in a ‘keep’ pile, if the answer is No move it to the ‘giveaway/ throw out’ pile. Additionally, you’ll want to check the expiration date on products to see if you need to replace it, even if it’s in the Yes pile.

4. Clean your kit and prepare to put things back in an organized fashion. We like to use Ursa Major face wipes to wipe down the inside surfaces as well as compacts and tubes so everything goes back in clean. Look online for organization inspiration and group like items together for ease of use.

Once you’ve tidied your kit, not only will you feel more organized and ready for the busy summer ahead, but this is also the perfect time to take stock and make a list of items you need to replace or want to add to your kit to round it out. Schedule this exercise on a weekend or day when you have some down time as you’ll likely need 2-3 hours to work through it. Have tricks or tips to keeping your kit organized?
